I believe local ownership of businesses and properties is extremely
beneficial to our community. As a local owner, I am vested in the future
and vitality of this community, as opposed to being soley interested in
the performance of the business alone. Flashbacks was previously owned by
individuals who lived in Pennsylvania. Therefore, not only did the proceeds
leave the City of Binghamton, they also left the state of New York. Now,
through local ownership, the proceeds will stay in the area and there is
now direct control and access to the business. In addition, Flashbacks also interested
me because it was already involved in numerous fundraising activities for a number of
charitable organizations on an annual basis.
